The path to the position of the Center’s Head

– How did you become the head of the Lviv Center for Services to Combatants?

– I got this position after returning from the war. I am happy to continue applying my experience and helping my fellow soldiers. However, this is not my only calling. When I was asked during the interview at the city hall what I would like to do, I answered honestly: “Music.” They said: “What do you mean?” I replied: “Well, I play punk rock. It’s the foundation of my comfort.” I explained that if I am allowed to pursue this passion and have the time for it, I will be very productive. So, we agreed (laughs).

Now, we are already preparing to record a new album. As for my work, I’ve started not just managing but **leading—almost commanding, like in the army—**the Lviv Center for Services to Combatants

. This includes holding personal meetings with veterans to discuss their issues and coordinating efforts when veterans come to me with all sorts of questions. I then direct them: for example, whether they should see a lawyer or a psychologist.

About IT training for veterans

– Has the Lviv Center for Services to Combatants offered training for veterans before?

– No, not in the IT field—this is the first time. However, we have conducted many other types of training: for instance, free English courses for veterans and their families, driving theory lessons, and various master classes for veterans’ families. We even launched a course called “How to communicate with veterans” and introduced an interesting project, “Tattoo School.”

– Who do you plan to target with IT training?

– Our primary focus is on those who reach out to us and want to make a change. For instance, if someone earned over 100,000 UAH during the war but, upon returning, is told: “That’s it. Now you’ll be earning 20 again,” it can cause a severe mental breakdown. Many realize they need to take action to secure better earnings in the future. These are the people we prioritize helping.

Of course, some people sit back and blame the state for everything. But, eventually, most come to realize: “I have to keep moving forward. On my own.”

– When is the training for participants from the Lviv Center for Services to Combatants expected to begin?

– We will start with the FullStack program in February. This means that in December we will collect information about those who want to study. Soon we will conduct an information campaign and make a promotion. I think that in the near future, veterans will be proud of the worthy support of the community. I am more than convinced that Lviv will be able to thank them with appropriate respect and honor.

The training for veterans, scheduled to begin in February, will take place as part of a collaboration between the  Lviv Center for Services to Combatants and the Academy for Heroes.

This partnership marks an important step towards developing new educational programs for Ukrainian veterans. If you are interested in participating in the training or want to learn more, visit: https://www.academy4heroes.com/navchalni-programy.
